Abstract:
Causative constructions are a group of sentences in which, a person or an event ( that is called a causer) motivates another person or a thing ( that is called a causee), to do a task, to accept or remain in a situation. In a periphrastic causative construction, two isolated propositions show the cause notion and the result of it. The aim of this paper is to investigate the syntactic and semantic aspects of periphrastic causative constructions in Persian within the Role and Reference Grammar (RRG). RRG as a structural- functional theory, intends to investigate the interaction of syntax, semantics and pragmatics through the constituent, logical and focus structures as independent but interrelated domains of the paradigm. In this paper, the data of Persian were selected from PLDB ( Persian Language Data Base) and analyzed in order to display the specificational nature of the periphrastic constructions through the syntactic and semantic domains in RRG.
