Abstract:
Naming is one of the lifestyle effects, and by examining the proper names changes, we can identify the tastes of those who choose the name. In Iran, many TV serials have been affecting the naming process of Iranian families and have been influenced by the TV series, such as Setayesh, Mukhtarnameh (Kian), Shahriyar and Narges, a Traveler from India (SITA), and so on. In this paper, by the help of the descriptive-analytical method and the sociological cognitive linguistic approach the researcher has tried to investigate the proper names in 40 serials from the four decades (10 serials from every decade) in the national media which have been selected through targeted sampling. The research results provide some evidence of changing in proper names. So that the amount of national names in comparison with religious names increased over four decades. The proper names in this article are divided into five categories: national, religious, national-religious, ethnic, and transnational (non-religious Arab, Turkish and Western).
