Abstract |
Discourse analysis is also a theory and methodology accepted by linguists and social scientists. Discourse analysis focuses on how sentences in spoken and written language create larger meaningful units such as interviews, conversations, or types of written or spoken texts. This study investigates the literary discourse of contemporary Persian satire based on gender as a variety within the framework of the Grice Co-operative Theory and based on discourse analysis based on descriptive-analytic method. The data of this research have been selected from the works of four contemporary Persian satirists, including two female satirists and two male satirists. In this research, after summarizing the sentences of satire in a librarian way, the principles of Grice are subject to testing. It means that at first the sentences are identified and will be evaluated upon each principle of Grice, then they will be interpreted semantically and pragmatically after all by using the principles and formulas the degree of conformity of the sentences with each of the four principles will be estimated. At the end the effect of the gender and the abundance of violation will be study and presented. The research led to these results: Grice principles in this data were violated and the principle of manner were violation more than other principles. |
