Semantic signs in “mad” tales of Attar from cultural codes’ view of Roland Barth

Abstract
Reinterpretation of linguistic works and the description of their synchrony in each period is important. New and bright readings can be found by decoding the structure of each text. Barth believes that meaning plurality in the texts leads to the new understandings which forms the representation process. Social and cultural phenomena are meaningful items that their main structure and arrangements can only be known by linguistic methods. The method of Barth is efficient in all social-cultural aspects of life. This research has studied 67 narratives titled “mad and insane” from “Mosibatnameh” by Attar from the cultural codes of Barth. Six narratives are about Bohlol, ten narratives from Majnoon-Leili. In 16 narratives, the insane means mad, and 35 narratives are written with the tile of mad. The subject of this narratives-except Majnoon and Leili-is complaining about poverty, injustice, secularity, self-analysis and complaint to God. This research aims to answer this question that could Attar deal with problems like poverty, illiteracy, ignorance, and deprivation from social rights in his poems by reciting the stories of mad?
