Abstract
This research is allocated to study of coordinate constructions in Persian. It has done on the basis of Haspelmath(2004) strategies. This research can be one of the first studies on coordinate constructions in Persian.
All languages have coordinate constructions (Gazdar and et al., 1985,p.169). Although they are different in number and position of coordinators(Haspelmath,2007).
Coordination deals with two or more constituents which have same grammatical category and they are not subordinated to each other. The theoretical bases of the research and the related details supported and posed originally by Haspelmath(2004) regarding the strategies used in determining four kinds of coordinate constructions: adjunctive, adversative, disjunctive and causative. It also investigates position of coordinators. According to Haspelmath(2004) a coordinating construction consists of two coordinands which their coordinate status is may be indicated by coordinators or juxtaposition.
According to the collected data:–o is the most frequent coordinator in Persian Juxtaposition is a possible strategy, though. The most important adversative coordinator which is used in Persian is: vali. For disjunctive coordination this language uses -ja:- in similar ways. Another kind of coordinate construction in this language is "causative coordination."
The amazing point about coordination in this language is the use of some coordinators for all four kinds of coordinations and the most amazing point is the status of some coordinators at the beginning of coordinate constructions which according to Haspelmath(2004) has not been seen in all languages of the world!
