Abstract
The advent and development of web has changed the concept of corpus, and due to successful applications of web in areas such language learning, machine translation, information retrieval, etc., shortcomings of the web as corpus has been underestimated in theoretical linguistics. In the present study, first three search methods, i.e. hunting, grazing and browsing are outlined and then the concept off webidence will be introduced. Webidence is a linguistic expression witnessed in the web and hence linguists take it as an indication of correctness and grammaticality. Here, tow Persian linguistics books (Dabirmoghaddam, 2013) and (Meshkatoddini, 2017) are consulted especially the non-words and ungrammatical structures. The researcher has 'hunted' the ungrammatical expression on the web and the results indicate that sometimes the linguistic intuition of a linguist is not consistent with webidence. As such, it is concluded that using the web without care would result in conflicts in studies of theoretical linguistics.
