Abstract
Language processing in the brain has always an abstract nature, therefore, using experimental methods to clarify this process can invoke a proper answer to many theoretical and practical questions in different aspects of linguistics. The current study is to introduce the ERP, a method to convert the brain’s language processing mechanism into a comprehensible and tangible output. Subsequently, based on some reputable international databases which contain neurolinguistics studies and also some influential studies in this field, some applications of this method and its components are listed. Linguistic notions and components such as phonology, syntax, and semantics, dealt within credible studies, are placed in this list. The studies covered in this article are the ones conducted since the year 2000. This review also strives to compare the nature and findings of Iranian studies with the mainstream studies conducted internationally and will eventually introduce areas less dealt with by the Iranian researchers.
