Abstract |
Language reflects the ideology of language users and social actors. The scientific study of discourse leads to a deep awareness of the discourse maker's ideas. Ideologies are hidden in behind of words, phrases and sentences. They subtly submerged in social structures in order to become social contracts. Divorce demanding Women, in order to persuade the audience ideologically, use a variety of linguistic strategies to reinforce the verbal burden of their words. One of these strategies is the polarization of actors. in this paper, after attending 60 meetings of family court in Zahedan- Iran, the polarization as a linguistic strategy, in divorce demanding Women’s discourse, based on the theory of society, cognition and discourse of Vandijke (2006) has been investigated. The results show that divorce demanding Women use the polarization strategy to persuade judges to achieve two major goals, magnifying their own positive points and negative qualities of the other party. |
