| The main purpose of this research is to study natural elements of conceptual metaphors in Persian proverbs in cognitive framework .Proverbs show feelings ,believes ,ideas and different cultural issues in linguistic forms .On the other hand ,metaphor can transfer meaning by image schema .Researcher tries to investigate four natural elements ;water ,fire ,soil and wind in conceptual metaphors of the proverbs as the source domain .The data for the study have been collected from Dehkhoda dictionary. This research is descriptive. Findings of this study indicate the mentioned natural elements have been used in the proverbs most often and they can make mapping between source and target domains .The results of this study confirmed that water is the most frequent natural element in these proverbs .It should be mentioned that morale value has been studied as one factor in natural elements in the proverbs too .The findings show water with the positive value and wind with the negative one . |
